The word “safari” originated from the Swahili language, literally meaning “journey” or “expedition”. At GIX Africa we believe our clients are the most important people on a safari and we will strive to make your journey and expedition unforgettable. Your safari will be conducted in a highly professional manner and at a pace set by you.

Africa and Southern Africa especially, has always been the ultimate big game hunting safari destination with a rich history of trophy hunting. The region offers a diverse selection of terrain and species that will challenge the most discerning hunter.

GIX Africa Safaris is owned and operated by Theron Conradie. Theron is the 3rd generation of a family involved in hunting and conservation. He is a registered member of both PHASA (Professional Hunter’s Association of Southern Africa) and SCI. Theron has more than 20 years of hunting experience in the region and is a registered professional hunter.

Rifle &  Bow Hunting Safaris

Available species can be divided into the  following groups:

Plains Game: Hunting takes place on open plains as well as in savannah bushveld.  The region offer an excellent variety of  Plains Game including Blesbuck, Zebra, Waterbuck, Springbuck (Common, Kalahari,  Black, White and Copper – collectively known as a “Grand Slam”), Mountain  Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Blue and Black Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest (Cape), Vaal  Rhebuck and Gemsbuck, to name but a few. Plains game hunting provides an  excellent challenge from first time visitors to the more seasoned hunter with  shots ranging from 30 yards up to 250 yards.

Spiral Horn: To be found in similar habitat as the Plains Game. Four sought after  examples of Spiral Horn are on offer in the region namely Kudu (Southern  Greater and Eastern Cape), Eland, Nyala and Bushbuck (Chobe, Limpopo and Eastern  Cape). Sizes range from Eland, the world’s largest antelope, to Bushbuck, which  coincidentally has a temperament similar to that of the Cape Buffalo.

Pigmy Antelope: Do not let their size fool you, this is one of the most  challenging groups available in the region. Your patience and hunting skills  will be tested to the extreme when hunting the “Tiny Ten”. Habitat ranges from  dense riverbanks, coastal sand forests and high mountainous areas.

Species on  offer include Blue, Red and Grey Duiker, Southern Bush Duiker, Oribi,  Klipspringer, Cape and Sharps Grysbuck, Vaal Rhebuck and Steenbuck. Please bear  in mind that some of these are subject to CITES permits.

Big Five: This is one group recognized by all in the hunter’s fraternity. Awe inspiring  and respected. Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Cape Buffalo and Elephant. The mere  mention of this group conjures images of the true African hunting safari  experience.

Unique to Africa, this is the ultimate test for all hunters. Allow  us to assist you, with knowledge and experience, to hunt these great creatures  in their own environment. Apart from Cape Buffalo, CITES permits are  applicable.

Bow  Hunting: Recognized as one of the fastest growing  disciplines in the region, we at GIX Africa are well aware of all the unique  requirements involved with bow hunting. Be it a patient wait in a blind or a  careful stalk, we will be there with you.

Species available include Plains  Game, Spiral Horn and Pigmy Antelope. We have at our disposal designated Bow  Hunting areas where the needs of Bow Hunters are specifically catered for.  These include pre-constructed elevated and pit blinds. Together with our  knowledge of the different animals and their behavior, you should be able to  attain great trophies.

Family &  Group Safaris

Family and Group bookings are always  welcome at GIX Africa. A Family safari will provide you with the ideal  opportunity to spend quality time with your family members, whether they join  you as fellow hunters or as observers. Additionally it creates the ideal  environment for bonding and sharing first time hunting experiences.

It will  enable parents to pass existing knowledge and experience on to the next  generation and initiate a love and appreciation for nature and all its wonders.  A Group safari with GIX Africa will strengthen any relationship, be it with  family, friends or business associates. According to law a maximum of two  hunters will be allocated to a Professional Hunter ensuring personal attention  and support. You can however still opt for a one on one.
